Only the '87 and '88 TC has rear discs. If you have an earlier TBird, it's a fairly simple matter to swap out the rear ends. Some brake plumbing work to mate the later rear to the earlier chassis, and a Mark 7 emergency brake cable assembly will work on the '86 and earlier chassis.
Also the 87-88 TCs rear end gears will vary upon the trans that was used, the autos had 3:73 gears while the 5-speeds had 3:55 gears.
I did that swap in a 93 vert and it looked like A$$,I had draglites on it but still stuck out to far.I would just get the 8.8 out of a 5.0.
