Swapping Rear ends..need some help.

my family has a 88 turbo coupe that is no longer in use and I thought I might take out the rear gears from it and put them in my 90 base bird. Will this even work or am I trying to do the impossible?

Thanks for the help in advanced.

if im not mistaken, the TC's have a solid rear axle, so you wont be able to swap the whole pumpkin. the gears are 8.8" i believe, so you might be able to make use of those, if you like.

you cant swap the whole pumpkin, its a solid axle pumpkin, not an IRS pumpkin

thanks for the help

I think to save some time (not money) I'll get a IRS pumpkin from a 94 V8 bird in one of the local yards.

If they are both 8.8 wouldnt the gears themselves be swapable?
Somthing to think about.
