I have a question: what did they do to de-tune the auto 87-88 by 40 HP?

I hate this place! Nothing works here! The medication doesn't work! I've been here seven years! I hate this place!

Note that first gear ratio.

I also think the first few year TurboCoupe 5-speeds had a 4.03 first gear ratio.

Even though they may be down on power, the gearing for out of the hole is pretty good.

Another car to look at for info on the Turbo motor are the 84 to 86 SVO's. 205 hp I think.

97 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC (Chip'd, 3.73 T/L... so far... )
97 Ford Aspire (Slow, but getting 36 mpg (f'n Ethenol!! )
84 F250 Dually w/6.9L Diesel (7.3L IDI pending)
73 Mercury Cougar Convertible w/351C 4V (Partially Restored)

Nono, I know *why* they de-tuned it. I wanted to know *what* they did to it. Was it just a downgraded computer program? smaller heads? what?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think all they did was decrease the boost levels (via the EEC) by 3 psi across the board. To my knowledge everything internally is identical. But it's been a while since I researched the turbo 2.3L.
