Idle Question

There's a local Turbo Coupe guy who is having idle issues. In case it matters, it's an 88 5spd. He says the idle will go between 750 and 1250 RPM. Could this be a vac. leak somewhere? He wasn't exactly descriptive since he was leaving for work. He also said that after it's warm, it sometimes has trouble starting.

I don't know too much about it - We will talk again in a day or so and I'll get more info on it. Any leads on where to start would be appreciated.

Maybe it's a vacuum leak. How about checking his IAC? Or maybe the MAF (if the TC has an MAF).

Thumbs up

Clean out the IAC Using brake cleaner or carb cleaner. Its a possibility that this could be the problem. If not, Usually a hunting idle condition is caused by a vac leak or the TPS being out of spec. Follow the directions in the link below to adjust the TPS and re-set the base Idle.
