You mean to install a bare strut where you see the rod? Bad idea. The bellows keep dust off the rod and provide a bump stop. Especially with lowering springs you risk hitting the top of the strut and wrecking it/making it leak. Also you want to keep as much road crap as possible out of the seal.
I like the Monroe ones, they come with the quick struts and you can get them separately.
Excellent - thanks! I figured I'd ask as it was another $25-30, but I'd rather do it now than before they were on the car (if they were necessary).
