Bearing and seal please

I bought a used 3.27 trac-loc pumpkin out of a mystery car and it's time for new bearing and seals. I had a friend install the pumpkin and I didn't pay too much attention and now he's not available and I'm left to figure it out by myself. If I buy seals for a 94 4.6 T-Bird from Ford what is that chance of the being the right ones or wrong? Also, how does the replacement of the bearing go? How do I get the old ones out without damaging the pumpkin (I used a pry bar to take the ones off the old pumpkin to see what they looked like and it took a LOT of force with a 2' pry bar) Is it safe to work with the pumpkin in the car or should it come out? Is a big socket and mallet and some patience all I really need? I looked around where the halfshaft where it meets the housing too and didn't see any clip or any the holding it in...what's the trick to getting them off? I'd rather ask first and drive it later than break something and ask about it after. Thanks for any help or advice.
