Dumb question

I was told by a ford specialist at the trans shop that its best to leave your trans in OD instead of putting it in D all the time. Is this correct? I always kept it in D cause it has more power. Also...I heard this was correct, please correct me if im wrong. You CAn shift from D -> OD and from OD -> D without any problems while drving, right? Please say yes...I hope so anyway. If not Im going to "hurt" someone in my family.

Also, I am getting my trans rebuilt, but before anyhting like that happens, they have to take my trans down and apart $350 in labor alone (esp cause they have to take down my dual Y exhaust). They have to see what damage it is in before they can tell me the "final" price. I hope it isnt above 1600 though, or else Im screwed. Remember Im doing the TransGo shift kit and the trans cooler as well.

Another thing as well. The specialist told me that the transgo shift kit doesnt help that much in anything and I wont notice any difference. I quote, "Why you adding that thing in there for? It really doesnt help much." I read good things about this product, I hope I wont be disappointed.

I know this though, I wont race this car too much now...if at all. I always thought this is a "racing" car. Especially because of the large engine. However I never thought my trans will just die like this. I know things go, but damn (only 74k on the car). I just have a heavy foot. I guess I learned my life lesson. I guess I should play less NFS Underground :P

I really dont know what else to say. I even asked the guy cause he drove me home and we were talking about mods. He even said "I have a couple of mods I can add" and he said, "I would wait till I hear about how much damage is done to the trans first though, then we can talk about mods." I do agree with him. However what he said really got me thinking, he said "there are a lot of mods I can do to this year of tbird cause it doesnt have a electronic trans." I wonder what other mods are avaible to this trans that we dont know about.

Wow, I never wrote so much in a post in a very long time. Tell me what you guys think. Please I need anything you can give me. Thank you.

Sorry for any errors :P

I had the Trans-Go kit in an AOD, and trust me, if you set it up aggressively, you'll definately feel the difference. Driving in D all the time won't hurt anything, just give you worse gas mileage. I'd find someone who was willing to do want I wanted to the transmission, so I'd know I'd be happy with the final results. If the repair bill gets too high, I'd search around for a used AOD, and call it a day. I'll have 2 of them in a couple weeks laying around, so if you don't have a resolution by then, let me know.

How did you setup your trans "aggressively?"

Well, two things went in my trans, the rear planetary and the pump. Also with those 2 mods (transcooler and transgo shift kit) with cost 2100 so now Im basically in debt now...wow. Damn transmissions.
