'04 mustang pumpkin

MM&FF showed the '04 GT having a 3.55 rear. anybody know if its a trac-loc? could we swap one direct? ive been thinking of 3.73's, but this option might help me avoid down time for a chip reburn.

thanks

Your 97 should have 3.27 gears, you can swap in teh 3.73 pumpkin without any problems. It's only 2 steps and the EEC can compensate for it.

4.10s would need a recal, but 3.73 is fine.

The 03-04 Cobras have 3.55 ratio with IRS, but they also have a 31-spline diff. -- so you would have to swap the side gears in the differential to mate up with the T-Bird axle shafts. Other than that, it's a bolt-in, and also saves a few pounds with the aluminum carrier housing.

cheers,
