Mercon V ?

Is the Pennozoil Multi-Vehicle ATF the same as Mercon V. On the label it states it is and I ask the parts guy and he said it is. The reason I asked is I feel TC shudder when I am in 3rd gear coming up a hill. Doing about 30-35. It goes away after, when it shifts to 4th. I just flushed the system about 3 weeks ago. The fluid leve is normal. It never did this before. The car only has 53k miles. The transmissoin feels good, shifts good. Its in my mustang, not the Tbird. I went to the Pennzoil website and counldnt find anything.

Does anyone know.
Maybe I should just redo it again.

I buy Mercon V, and only Mercon V labeled bottles. I get AAMCO MercV from AutoZone.

Accept No Subsitutes, Mercon V is the only fluid i'd trust

No, its not the same thing. Mercon V needs to be specified on the bottle. The multi-vehicle atf is the basic stuff. I used Motorcraft Mercon V myself. It was pretty cheap compared to the instore stuff.

Ask first before you buy though - one dealer at home near me wants $5 / quart! I'm never going near that place....

The mutl-vehicle was the same price as the Mercon V, and I asked the parts guy before I bought it if it was Mercon V, he said yes. The prices here are about 2.99 a quart, pretty much any brand, Castrol is the only one I just saw that was $3.50 a quart. Thansk for your input guys, looks like I will be changing it again today. No checker or Advanced Auto around here.

Only these
AutoZone
Pepboys
Car Quest
Kragen - I think this is affiliated to Advance though

The multi-vehicle states its synthetic blend, isnt Mercon V synthetic blend also?
