Just to make sure, 8.8 from a ?? will fit a 93?

Im just making sure, Will any year 8.8 from a tbird sc fit into my 1993 Cougar?

I thought that it was time to upgrade since I just blew my 2nd diff, First one was stock, and the second one had 3.73s.

I thought Id be a harda$$ today leaving a resturant, I backed up, put it in neutral, reved it to 4K and n droped it and all I heard was BAMMMMM whizzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I called junkyards looking for an sc, FINALLY found 1, Im unsure of the year cause they couldnt tell. So im going to check it out tomarrow, $80 pulled, doesnt sound that bad.

Yes, the 8.8" centersection from any MN12 will bolt right in place of the 7.5". However, even with the 8.8", I wouldn't recommend doing neutral drops.

yeah... N drops are a stupid idea, and thats what happens. You will keeping going through diffs unitl you probably go through a tranny. So dont do them

And if you dont break the differential, you'll bust a half shaft. Might almost be a good idea to have those CV joints checked out when you put this new differential in. Pushing these cars for a few miles is not something I recommend for anyone.

Ok, I got the car up on the lift tonight, found out what was really wrong.

I thought that the planetary gears broke, and that the broken pieces got wedged against the diff cover and shattered it.

What really happened, I got my car pulled onto the lift, raised it up and seen the left axle hanging, disconected from the hub that was connected to the diff.

Also, somehow the Sway bar snaped.

Here is what I think happened, The sway bar had as stress fracture and rust anound it eating away at it, When it broke, it somehow made the left axle bend in such a way it poped out of the hub, Not the spline part. Also, the diff cover was shattered somehow.

I have the old diff cover to my last diff. I went to the junkyard and got a rear sway bar and half shaft.

I went to the junkyard that said they had an sc, NOPE, I got there and it was an 90 lx. I figured they had my balls in a sling, since they would pull it for 80 vs down the street for $250!!!!, I talked them down to $60. They said it would be 1hr, so I went to pick something up to eat, I come back in 1hr and they are gone. I go to my grandmas house, and wait and call, they gave me the story that they needed to fill thier propane tank>>>>>???? I figured they use propane vs acetalene in a cutting torch cause they didnt know better.

I get there and wait 30 min more, I went back to my truck, and made some calls to friends and went back in, and no body was there.

I called back today and they said its pulled, I already knew I didnt need the diff anymore, so I told them I wanted my money back.

I get there, and give them the recipt, I paid $60, for some reason, he wrote $40, the guy that made out the recipt, pocketed $20, and I told the owner I seen him pocket it but didnt realize he wasnt the owner.

That guy got fired on the spot!

I hate junkyards.
