Trans in and speedo off

Put the tranny in from a 2000 Mustang GT(Thanks timb), only thing is the speedo is off.

What gear if any do I need to put in to fix?

I have a 3:27 gear ratio.

I had no idea the difference would be so noticeable between the two trannys....very nice

Mine's off with 3.27's and an '00 Mustang GT trans. too, and nobody seems to know just why.

The mustang output shaft has more splines so you need to change speedo gears to compensate. As long as you have a 3.08 or 3.27 you can use a gear. I just looked up an email I had...you need a purple speedo gear Dan Newman can get it for you

I posted the output shaft differences a long time ago...guess nobody paid attention.
The Mustang uses an 8 tooth, and the Tbird uses a 7 tooth for the speedo drive gear.

Send a message via AIM to JustinH
search for output shaft, and its probably in at least a dozen posts.

I referenced to JL's post several times. Edit-make that 14 times I mentioned the term "output shaft"

Must have missed it, output shaft would not have come to mind unless mentioned.

Now I know.

Thanks
