Unhappy Cra is back together but problems....

Ok just got the car off of the jack stands after working on it here and there for six weeks. I replaced teh trans with a 96 one and teh diff with a 3.27L also out of a 96 car. The trans is currently overfilled but that's not realted to my problems. My speedometer is way off, a little abve 2x speed from what I can tell and there is a hollow, rythimic scraping sound from the rear. The speedo I think is a result of teh snsor on teh trans being different between the two years, but am not sure. As for the sound from the rear I feel it may be the drums being rusty cause the car sat outside, the diff being low on fluid (I think I filled it all the way but was having a hell of a time), or something touching rotating parts. One buddy that road with me thought it was bad bearings in teh diff but I know it was good when I got it. What's everyones thoughts? I probably won't be able to get back under the car till tomorrow so any suggestions before then will be tested and appreciated.

if your car had 3.08 gears stock and you switched to 3.27, thats why you speedo is off. you need to get a speedometer gear for 3.27's from ford and install it. shouldnt be more than $5. i cant help you with the grinding, someone else will probably chime in.

I had the right gear just not the right sensor. Everything has been figured out except for the noise. It seesm to be coming from the front of the car and while driving its apears to be related to car speed and not motor rpm (doesn't change with shifts). Also when up un blocks if the car in in neutral with the motor off, if i spin the rear wheels there is a whining noise fron the trans. If the car is running and neutral while up the wheels spin, not normal I don't think, but when driving the car seems to move a bit in neutral but once I try to hit the gas it just revs. Anyone have any idea what this could be and if any of this is related. I really need my car done this week for my 4 hour trip home to chi-town.

I think I am going to make a new thread for this so it gets some more exposure.
