Who makes the best Mercon V

I tried search but couldn't find the answers I was looking for.

What company makes the best Mercon V? By best I mean with the most friction modifier to eliminate TC shudder, longest lasting, most recommended etc.

Motorcraft. When in doubt, use OEM.

Jay

These are highly engineered precision vehicles, the first step in diagnosing the problem is to strike the suspected offending part sharply and repeatedly with a blunt object, then re-test.

Mercon V is mercon V. its a chemical thing, you know...ingredients?

Thats like asking "who makes the best sugar?"

when in doubt, use OEM, is the correct answer 99% of the time...that is, unless you already have AMSOIL, and need to "top off". heh heh

Yep

it has to meet the same "Recipe" as Ford to be able to use the "MERCON V" name

it's all the same stuff.

The Ford stuff is probably the best, if there is such a thing. The valvoline and castrol ones I've used on occaision too. I try to stay away from the el cheapo brands.
Anyone want a quart of Ultramax? it's under $2 a bottle. Of course it's probably made of lark's vomit for that price. lol.

Are the jugs available via retail or are they a "connection" thing?

I buy them at a local parts store, so anyone who sells Motorcraft should be able to get them.

Ya know....

It's gonna get alot worse come early summer when it's engine swap time, and I gotta see about getting a bulletproof trans from TFHS Motorsports , when the swap time comes.

You will be getting many many calls.
