according to the 2 step theory it depends on what gears he has now. with 3.08's it will be a 3 step (3.27, 3.50, 3.73) and the computer cant adjust. if he has 3.27's now then he should be gtg (good to go).

you had no problems hitting the rev limiter at wot? did you do the j-mod? that worked for me, i put in a PA valvebody and it would shift fast enough not to hit the limiter.

I had done the J-mod at the same time. If thats the only requirement it's way cheaper than a chip.

My car has no problems with 3.73s, as I too have had the J-mod done. My only problem is that I get to about 90.6mph and I hit the speed limiter. I still have never hit the rev limiter after the gear swap.

As did I.

I went from 3.08's to 3.73's. I wish I had gone to at least 4.10's or possibly even 4.30's.

Go 4.10's definetly.

You won't break anything so don't worry about that. You would be at about 2900 @ 80.

Jet module? you have to be kidding me. please don't suggest that unless you have experience with them. Everyone I know has had nothing but problems from jet modules.

A buddy of mine sent his back 5 times before they gave him a refund. 2 of them wouldn't even run, 1 of them wouldn't shift, 1 of them was running pig rich , and I don't remember the problem on the last one. You should have talked to Lonnie.

unless you order a custom chip from them it wont do anything. your best bet is to send it back when you get it and go to blueovalchips.com and order a chip from lonnie.

Yes the chip is VERY worth the money!

HP varies, all mods work in conjunction with each other maybe 10-15rwhp alone.

Reburns can be made with CUSTOM chips only, not Jet Chips.
Reburns cost between 40-50 bucks depending on company.

I had a Jet chip, As soon as I got here I sold it and talked to Lonnie from

Blue Oval Chips Now I am extremely HAPPY.

Hope this helps,

Dave

Would it be a good idea for Thunder to change the speedo gear also??? I'm thinking of 3.73's cause I do ALOT of highway driving, but would I need to change the speedo gear? I'm going with 4.10's in my 5.0 stang cause it's never driven. I'm happy with my custom chip from Dennis Reinhart, but I don't think I'll do business with him again.

Yeah the JET modules suck. My friend bought one for his '01 Cavalier and it made it slower. He runs a 10.230 on the 1/8 mi. w/o the JET and w/ it he ran 10.5's on 1/8 mi. It made it run way too rich and always turned the Check Engine Light on. Get rid of it. I'm getting 10.074 on the 1/8 (i think) @ 74mph.

Yes you will need a speedo gear or speedcal to correct the speedo.

If I could redo it I wish I would have gone with 4.56 which would put me around 106 mph at 6250 in 3rd gear.

I would go 4.56 if I was going to stay NA and run about 6500 RPM.

what RPMs would I posibly turn with 3.73's at about 80mph? Would that answer be close to what it could turn in my '97 Cobra?

It would be similiar....~2600-2700 with stock size tires on the cougar, and about the same on the Cobra.
