83 stang manual in a 93 bird

both 5.0s. My cousin wants to swap his manual to and automatic with a rachet shift and stall converter. He has a 83 5.0 mustang. Can this manual go in my 93 bird without too many problems? Can anyone chime in on this one? thanks

The tranny will bolt up to your engine but it's not quite that simple. Check the tech articles as I think there's an article on the T5 to 5.0 swap. I would also question how strong the T5s were in 83 compared the the later versions.

Late 83 Mustangs got the T5 5-speed, the earlier cars had the SROD 4-speed. Either one has limited torque capacity.

hmm, interesting, i thought starting in 84 they were gettign the early t5's i thought all 83 's had that pos srod
