I am getting ready to get a rear-end built up for my weekend play car, and am thinking strongly about going with a Detroit Locker for the 28 spline 8.8, P.N. 187C147A. These are a little to radical for a daily driver, but figured since mine will only see about 100 miles a week, with a good percentage of that up and down the strip, it would be OK. I am aware of the way they lock up both axles under any torque applications, even if turning, had one in my old 67 GT Stang
Do any of you guys know of anyone using one of these in there MN12? They are not cheap, but will handle year after year of abuse with nothing more than a oil change, so thought it may be worth it.
I was going to go with 4.56 gears, but since I put on the lower profile DR, and considering the slippage of my non lockup converter, thinking on staying with 4.30 gears to try to keep it in the 5,500-6,000 RPM range through the lights. Ideas?
