Steeda diff brace

Just got a press release for Steeda's new diff brace for IRS Cobras...go to www.steeda.com to check it out. Sells for $129 and it looks like a good piece of work. Seemed like something many of us can use, so just thought I'd bring it up.

A diff. brace for a Cobra would bolt to our pumpkin, but not to the subframe on an MN-12 car. Different attaching point locations.

cheers,
Ed N.

Isn't the rear mounting point for the diff the same? That's what this is, just keeps the rear mount from tearing apart under load as it has on some cars.

Yes, the diff mounting points are the same. Without looking through the Steeda site to find a photo of it, I'm guessing it's like other braces on the market (or the OE ones installed on the 03 - 04 Cobras), it goes from those two mounting points, to two on the subframe. That's what braces everything together. The attachment points are different on the MN-12 subframe.

Steeda has at least half of their stuff manufactured by other vendors, they are not the innovators they would like everyone to believe they are.

Rich Thomson at MN12 Performance was making up the braces specifically for 89 - 97 Bird / Cougar, and Mark VIII.

cheers,
Ed N.

I wonder if you could use this in conjunction with the MN12 Piece? This isn't Steeda.

Bla… It does not look that good. Need chrome or silver...

I believe the best braces to get are the chassis braces. A good strong set can save your motor in an accident and allow you to jump curve in a single bound. Actual super feats may vary from car to car…

Ed, I have one of Rich's first (Red) IRS Pinion braces on my car. BTW: Don't try to put one of those on w/o supporting the pumpkin with a hyd. jack!!!! I already had the poly front & rear diff mounts. So my diff. is firmly planted now.

What do people think the IRS Pinion brace is gonna help? If the rubber diff. mounts are shot, then they need replacing. Adding the pinion brace is silly if the bad diff. mounts aren't replaced.
