Mark VIII 1 piece DS in a v6?

I have done some searching but can not find a simple and definate yes or no answer.

Does the 1 piece driveshaft from a Mark VIII fit in a 96 bird?

edit: and if it won't fit, can you please tell me why?

From some voices of experience around here, if you stay with the 7.5" rear you can make it fit but it will be tight. If you swap in an 8.8, forget about it. The 4.6 driveshaft is longer than the V6 one.

It's not a 97 Sport, it just looks like one!

I am curious as to this also, I know it has been discussed before. The resounding answer, if I remember right, was the actual driveshaft length. Is the V8 mounted farther forward/back than the V6?
