Unhappy tranny time

looks like its time for a new tranny...almost 80k on the odomoter...and my small tranny problem finaly have hit the fan...it shifts into nutral when ever it wants to...and it dosent want to shift at the right hift points....so im guess its on its last leg.

So now what? Can i rebuild my tranny? If i can is it hard to do even if you have alot of tools and are kinda skilled....or do i have to buy a new one?

Need comments please

Grab a 99+ trans, j-mod it, add a cooler, Mercon V, re-pin the harness, use some of your old trans. electrical parts on the new one, and away you go.

there is more, but that's the jist.

These are highly engineered precision vehicles, the first step in diagnosing the problem is to strike the suspected offending part sharply and repeatedly with a blunt object, then re-test.

In that case find a 96-97 trans in a junkyard and throw it in... cheapest solution. And make sure you flush the cooler out before you reinstall.

96 Mustang GT 5spd. w/ 248A Option (GTS). Stock for now until I get the Roush on.
