how to fix odometer

Well as the title says i want to fix my odometer since it stopped reading more than a month ago. Since im planning to sell the car people might not believe that it has the miles im guessing it has, and to make it fair i will add up the miles i do in a month and see if i can leave it like its suppose to be, but i was wondering if it had any loose cable to the transmission, or i would have to change the whole thing, i forgot the name now. Would i have to take it to a shop and have them fix it or is it doable at home....... Any help will be greatly appriciated, thanks for your time guys.

If you have the time and a donor speedo, take it apart carefully and replace the broken ODO gear. I was able to fix mine and correct the mileage (based on MPG and time) in about an hour from start to finish...Hope this helps.
