Went to visit Dirtyd0g this weekend...

Well, I had a 2800 Stall TC put into the car and a mildly agressive J-Mod.

I'll let the pics do the talking

My Car in the shop

Tranny out of the car

Valvebody

More VB fun

More VB

New TC

All Done!

And now... for the result:

(709 kb) Look what I can do!!

The install never had any problems, and a LOT of critical parts were replaced that really needed it (O/D Band, Intermediate clutches, etc.). This tranny job just added a bunch of life and a LOT of fun into the car. Alan did a fantastic job and I recommend him to anyone seriously considering this mod.

It is well worth the money!

John

Did you install one of Alan's custom TC's?

It's not a 97 Sport, it just looks like one!

No $400 is not the installed price that just covers the converter. We also had to install a markVIII flexplate. We then J-mod the trans and installed a rear lube mod as well as replaceing the od band welding the snapring on the md drum and replaced the intermediate clutches with later style clutches.
All totalled this was a $1000 project including parts and labor.

Yes that will work for you ,but you will need a markVIII flexplate to use it.

with changing the od band does that allow for wot od shifts?

96 pearl white 4.6 tbird: rebuilt npi block with pi heads, pi intake, crower stage 2 cams, shm high lift springs, L-MAF, 3.73's, marauder converter, jmod, kooks headers, xpipe, no cats, 2.5 in exhaust, no mufflers, a dyno tune, lots of interior work, 1 in drop with lots of new bushings, 18 in rims. 279 hp 319 tq. curently running 13.9 at 101 mph with a 2.1 60 time in 100 degree weather while having some nasty spark knock. Soon to have higher stall, aftermarket intake manifold, weight reduction, and hopefully a nice shot of the giggle gas.

Pretty much nothing is going to allow WOT 3-4 shifts, at least not for long. I have the broken hard parts to prove it.

I spent the extra money and went the extra mile with this project, because I wanted a strong transmission that would not fail when I decided to boogie on or off the track.

Nearly everything I paid for needed replacing in the first place, isn't that right Alan? Clutches and I knew before I walked in there I needed the O/D band replaced.

Yes everything needed replaced in that unit that we replaced. The od band was fried and the intermediate clutches were as well. The intermediate clutches looked like they got run over by a train That is very common for pre 98 clutches.

PM me with any questions ,but I have to tell you I am very busy right now and don't have very much spare time so it might take a month or so to get it built. [email protected] sells my products and can get you one in a week or so because those get built on company time. Bill is a great guy to deal with and is very competitive on pricing. I need to talk to him about updates to his site because of some changes that have been made ,but I'm pretty sure he will be selling the 11&1/4 units for $435 plus a 12 inch core. If you try to buy something from march 5th to march 15th expect a delay because I'll be in vegas

When $400 for all popped up I about pooped! A grand isn't a bad deal.
Awesome burnout. I wanna know if that car would spin the tires before the converter swap? I'm hoping mine will roast 'em like that with a 3000 stall.

Dude, before I got those 2 mods, I would get NO smoke at all, just a loud and large chirp.

Now as you can see.. Traction problems are now apparent

if u drive it like a mad man, yea

you can have an SCT chip burned to regain some of the fuel economy by changing the lock-up at low/mid throttle, but at higher throttle with the converter unlocked and the engine turning high RPMs, you're back to square 1
