shift selinoid ?'s

my tranny has been running ruff the past week...and about 1/2 an hour ago...i was turning out of my driveway and my tranny banged hard from nutral to 1st a couple of times...alot worse than it had been threw a code and my light came i took it and had the code read....there was one was the shift selinoid b....code #0755....if any of you guys know about this thing and how to fix it i would appreshate it...the part is 80 bucks and has to be shipped....i just wanna know what this thing does....and my search skills arnt coming up with anything....

Last time I bought a shift solenoid it cost half that. Where did you price it?

discount autoparts, can you tell me what that thing confused because the code says that it is malifunctioning....but it still shifts ok....
