quickie on MLPS please

did a search on alldata for MPLS on 97 cougar no such listing.
is the MLPS called by another name such as
"Transmission Position Switch/Sensor"
"Shift Interlock Switch" or
"Transmission Mode Switch"
these are the three trans related swithcesother than the speed sensor and temp sensor i found in the 97 cougar diagram
the tps is the only one located need the trans the other er are on the steering column and under the dash.
Is the "TPS" the same as the MLPS?

i'd rather go slow than not go at all

It's MLPS (Manual Lever Position Sensor).

AKA Neutral Safety Switch.

And the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is located on the throttle body....

Gotta love NoData.

Transmission Position Switch/Sensor
Transmission Mode Switch

It's one of those two.
