posi rear question

want a posi and a taller set of gear for the cat.
looked on e-bay. several listed.
question does the IRS in the 97 Cougar require a different or unique carrier?
will a mustang/bronco/ f150 28 spline differentail work?
Seems to be a conflict on the some of the e-bay adds.
some say works with all 28 spline some adds say all except IRS.

i'd rather go slow than not go at all

I think the only difference is the side gears for the trac loc, they need to be machined for use in our cars if they are not the proper ones. I am sure someone who knows will post.

The side gears have to be machined or replaced.

28 splines

I dont think all broncos (any ?) come with 28 splines----could be wrong, first time this year I have a 93 w/351 think it has 31 spline axles. Considering the 9" style outer bearing retainers. That dosnt apply to our IRS.

rangers and cars had 28 spline stock, all the other fullsized trucks and suv's had 31 spline for the 8.8.
