Difference between AOD and C4

hey, my trans is about to shat, and i know i can get a C4 for it cheap, will it bolt in? i was told its the same lentgh, is that true? this will be goin into an 1986 tbird with the 5.0. any help is appreciated.

it should bolt in just fine....the length, I have no idea, it would be best to measure the 2 before starting the swap.
Also, make sure the slip yoke is/has the same number of splines.

Oh, the AOD TV cable will not be the same as a kickdown rod on the C4.....if you run the C4, you don't necessarily have to have the kickdown rod...unless you want to have it for passing gear(which you can still drop a gear manually, but since the tranny wasn't designed to always be manually shifted, this could cause problems later).

and the C4 doesn't have OD.(I'm sure you knew that one).
