Just curious about a noise

Hello All,
Back in jan I bought a second cougar. It's a 97 sport (4.6L). And I've noticed that when I park this car that I hear several loud "clangs" as the car cools down. It always does it and stops after 20 minutes or so. It sounds like it's coming from underneath the car somewhere but I cant be sure. Anybody have an idea what it is? My 92 LS never does this. Btw, I wasn't sure where to post to this.

I gave you the choice of aiding me willingly, but you have selected the way of PAIN!!

So it's completely normal? Not a sign of a clogged cat or anything. And thanks guys.

Yup, perfectly normal. Clogged/broken cats would make a rattling sound but only when the engine is running.

On my mustang water from the air conditioner will drop on the exhaust and make a hiss that sounds just like a snake or a cat.

Mine does that too. Everyday because I run the A/C whenever I'm in my car, even if it's snowing outside.
