3.73s will make first gear really short, but otherwise it should work. You might be better off going with some 3.55s. If you are going to use 3.73s, make sure the trans isn't a cobra one because they had steeper first and second gears, and first gear would be pretty much useless. As for how much power they can handle, it all depends on the unit, but figure probably about 350 ft-lbs in stock form.

Do you have anything documenting the differences (i.e. what year has what ratio)? Everything I seem to find says some of the "early" T-45's have different gear ratios, but nothing that lists details or specifics.

Everything else I can find just says they are all the same...

I do not doubt you or anything, just looking for a clarification on what year equals what gear ratios.

I don't have it right now, but I know when I was buying a trans for my swap, I found an article on some mustang forums that had all the gear ratios for all the different transmissions. If I remember correctly, all the GT T45s had the same gear ratios, and the 99+ cobra trans had the same ratios as the GT, but the 96-98 cobra T45s had steeper 1st and 2nd gears. Also the 96-98 cobra trans is a tremec whereas the GT trans is a borg warner. If you do a google search I'm sure you could find out all the information.
