wondering if someone could tell me whats involved in changing the tran. shift lever.putting a 97 crown vic motor and tran. in a 96 bird and the shift levers are 180 degrees out and also different lengths.i know the pans have to come off.just wondering what else is involved and how complicated it is.
after pan removel, and MLPS removal, you back the large retainer nut off the backside of the lever - 13/16 I believe.
Then there is a roll pin that inserts from the pan gasket are UP into the shift lever boss....they can often be a real bugger to pull. I suggest you start with a pair of dykes...if that doesn't do it, you will have to drill it out.
