problems with tranny

i have a 96 t-bird 3.8 auto

when im going 55 and give it wot it tries to kick down ad red lines for like 5 seconds then snaps into gear and chips the tires

and when going slow it will shift to the next gear and shake the whole car

am i going to need a rebuild or a new tranny?

Try To Do A Fluid And Filter Change With Dex 5
Either The Trans Willgo Out Completely Or The Problem Will Go Away

I don't think fluid is going to fix that one, but it won't hurt to try I guess.

It sounds like a problem with 2nd gear applying. The 55 kick down is likely doing a 4-2 and when going slow it is probably banging into 2nd. That makes it time for a replacement transmision.

ONLY use Mercon V in these tranmsissions!

i have an auto from my swap if you need one. shifted great when pulled. only had 83xxx. only looking for a 100 or so. need to get it out of the shed. let me know

well my car has a warrantee so its getting a new coverter and tranny for free
