Gearing Quesion

Alright, acording to my speedo, w/ a 205/60R15 on the RR and a 195/60R15 on the LR, I am doing about 60MPH at the end of the straight aways turning about 5500RPM. This is in 2nd gear with a 4R70W and 3.08s in. I was told a while back, that not only for heat, but also rotaiting weight, I should try and get the car into drive. What for outrageous rear gears would I need to be turning about 5500RPM at 60MPH in Drive, with a stock 4R70W, and that tire setup? I could probly get a free set of used 4.11 (I belive, or 4.10, something like that) out of a mustang that we traded in at work, that were putting stock back in. Would that be close or not?

Thanks for the help you math guru's,

Motive Gears

Hello Brandon

If you want similar rear gears you have.

You are posting about 4.77 so you will have to go to 4.88 for a 8.8,(Motive Gear). This is the closest that they list. They will probably be better. Quicker off the corners. will add some RPM, hopefully to about 6000.

I race on a 1/2 mile asphalt & was using 4.10 X 1.46 = 5.98 getting about 6200 RPM.( C4 in second)

Changing to 3.90 X 1.55 = 6.04 (4r70w in second)

My new roll cage is on the way + new racing nose. Will post pictures in my listing in "Racing" soon.
