half shafts question

Hi I have a 96 v6 t-bird and I am going to convert my drum brakes to disk. I went to the junk yard and got the rear spindles and half shafts from a 96 or 97 v8 bird for $50.00, I don’t know if it was a sport or had abs. the half shafts I got from the junk yard have gears on them does any one know what they are for? And what is the difference between the 7.5 and the 8.8 rear end?

here is the link to the pictures:

Those are the exciter rings for the abs system. If you have ABS you need them, if not they are just along for the ride. There may be a way to remove them but I do not remember. If I was you I would just leave them on as it will not hurt anything except and a pound or two of weight to your ride. The 8.8 rear end is larger and more durable than the 7.5.
