Rim Widening?

I have 18x7.5 ADR Formula 5 rims with 245/45s on. I really like the rims and don't want to buy new ones just cause I want / need to go with a wider rim and tire for next year. I just heard about Wheels America, they can widen and weld wheels for $200 a wheel to make it a 18x9 so I can put a 275 or wider tire on the rears. They also said it's safe and would give me a lifetime warranty. What do you think?

Are you still on the mn12 hub or sn 95 hub? Its your car how bent are you on keeping that style 18" wheels. What about 17X9 cobra R's? If you could find someplace local to do this kind of work that would be much better than paying for shipping. Here in Phoenix there are wheel repair places so maybe there is one your neck of the woods.

Also realize that all of the extra width will be on the inside half of the wheel. So you may end up needing wheel spacers to keep everything from rubbing on the inside.

Another source for this work is www.weldcraftwheels.com, they do stuff for the OEs.

I've been ahold of weldcraft as well, seems like they do good work.

I was once going to get this done but it = expensive.

Whats your offset?

The guy I talked to at Weldcraft has someone that does the spacers for him. He can offer that info if you ask for it. I have it buried here somewhere.

Call John at 1-734-422-5479 .....he can help you with them.
Tell him you talked to me first.
James

It wasn't as buried as I thought
