What's your opinion

Alright... I'm lookin for new wheels to put on the car but I really would hate to go the Cobra R route. Everyone does it. Now I REALLY wanted to do GT500 wheels on the car cuz I think that would be bad ass. Sadly they don't make it in the right size. I'm hub swapped so the only thing I could find were 18-9.5... Not gonna happen. So now I'm thinking of GT replicas. I have 2 options. Both are 18x9 but one is a 40mm offset and the other is a 24mm offset. Which would be better. 40mm with spacers or go with the 24mm offset outright. I am worried about rubbing issues.

Also.. I'm lookin at Michelin Pilot sport a/s plus tires. 255/55 R18 so they are pretty wide tires. Just figured I'd let you guys respond with your opinions.

Also if someone could photoshop the wheels on a Tbird and email it to me I'd greatly appreciate that too. They look good on a stang but I don't know about a Tbird. My Email address is [email protected]. Thx. - Kyle

Here is a link to the wheels.

Those specs wont look correct on your car and why use spacers if you dont have to??heh

That tire size (255-55-18) is crazy tall...29.0" to be exact...Maybe you mis-typed it??

I have a wheel option that will work and not require any spacers in a FR500 in Black, Chrome or Sandblasted finish.

What size GT500's were you after? As far as the offset goes, go with the 40mm.
They will fit good in the back. I think the biggest offset you can run on the front is 38mm. To get the 40mm wheels down to a 38mm will take a very thin spacer.
The 2mm difference only equals to about .080". An 1/8" thick spacer should set you up good.

I'm running 18x10's in back at 45mm offset and 18x9's up front with a 36mm offset

Sorry it was a typo they were supposed to be 255/45 R18. I was thinking of going 40mm and using spacers but man I'm really not sure I want to use spacers like Cudaz said..

Cudaz: I hate the FR500 wheels. I hate that stupid ass dish in the middle of the wheel that showes between the spokes. I REALLY want the GT500 wheels bad... But I'm not swappin hubs back just to do it... then I'd have to buy new rotors and ****. So screw that. Is it possible to Machine the GT4's with a 24mm offset to bring them in any you think??

No way that a 9" wide wheel with a +24MM offset can be brought in enough by machining the mounting pad. If it was an 8" wheel then yes.

Only other Replica options I have is the Speedstars, Bullets or the Halibrand in same size front and rear or staggered.

So pretty much the only option is to get the 40's and use spacers to bring them out. I was affraid of that.

R8: The size of the GT500's, They have to be mustang Bolt pattern. 4.50x5 and the only ones are 18x9.5 with a 50mm offset. That's WAY too much to my liking to have a spacer on the hub. The 40 I can work with cuz that takes a small spacer.

I think a 5mm spacer would be alright wouldn't you think? I found a kit for 46 bux. Comes with the spacers and the wheel studs.. I don't know if that's per hub or for all of them. I'm betting on per wheel.

If you must run a wheel that requires spacers at least use a billet hubcentric spacer.

I'm lookin at the Eibach Kits... I just need to know if 5mm spacers are going to be enough??

http://www.livermoreperformance.com/...l_spacers.html

That's what I was lookin at today. You think 5mm would be too much or just right? I never thought shopping for wheels would be this hard :/

Yeah I did a lot of research before I bought new wheels also. In the end though, I am very happy with the results!! This is where I got my wheels from. Good company to deal with and they have a lot of nice wheels in deep dish.

Man that is the worst site EVER.. At first it was hard to understand what they were doing with all the wheels and ****. Then I notice you click the style and it gives you all the options alright. Cool. But here's the kicker. I'm lookin at the S stye wheels. Black Chrome 18x9 with a 30mm offset and it lists the price as 209. Alright I click the Buy it now button. And it takes me to another page with ALL these wheels and tire packages and crap. Then I find what LOOKS like the wheel I want but the price is 164 dollars. And there is nowhere to choose which offset you want... So yeah... a little confused. If I wasn't deployed I'd call them.

Here's the wheel I'm lookin at. It's the First one on the list in Black Chrome. I'm wondering if 30mm offset will be alright with a 255 tire. I may have to machine them down a bit but shouldn't be too much.

I think you will be fine. I'm running 255's on my 9" wheel with the 36mm offset and it is perfect. There is only about 1/4" difference in offset between a 30 and 36mm offset.

I'm pretty sure they will fit... But I'm also pretty sure they are going to stick out slightly. I may have to get them machined just a tad... but I'm waiting on the response from them to see what the price is... 209 and 164 is a huge difference.

6MM = .236" so its just under 1/4"

My 36MM offsets BARELY stick out. Check out the first picture on page 13 in the "wheel pics" forum. That is my car looking straight down on my front wheels.......add about 1/4" to that.

I don't want them to stick out at all... but I may just live with it. Cuz now I'm thiking of going with a much deeper offset and doing much bigger tires in the back. Like some 18x10's with some really fat tires.

Yeah they definitly do look good! My 18x10's have the 45MM offset with a 285 tire on the back. The 45MM offset gives me about 5/8" clearance between my wheel and rear sway bar. I could have gone with at least a 295 tire.

Also, my rear wheels are perfectly even with the outside of my fenders.....in fact, they are maybe set in just a hair. Of course you better plan on rolling your fenders and running the air bag kit if you're lowered.

Give Cruizin Concepts a call. That's why I did. He spent a half hour explaining offsets and widths and such to me. They know they're stuff.

I run a 18x9 30mm offset and a 18x10 40mm offset. I know I've seen someone on here that has a 24mm offset too. They're just about the perfect setup...gives it a real aggressive stance.

Yeah I'm already air Bagged and I'm going to be actually raising the car about half an inch. These Jamex Springs blow ass. So We'll be going with some H&R's and callin it a day. And I just priced 275/40 R18... I don't think that is quite in the budget right now... But we'll see

As for Cruizin concepts the guy just emailed me back. He said if I call and ask for him he'll do 160 for them. That's pretty bad ass. I'm going to email him back and see what he'll do for the 18x10 with 40mm offset.

Well I think I'm going to do it... Walker at Cruizin Concepts emailed me back and said he'll do 160 for all wheels. 18x9 with 30mm offset up front and 18x10 with 40mm offset in back. I think it's going to look sexy. I just can't believe how expensive 285/40R18's are... I'm not spending 330 dollars a tire for the backs.. screw that. I'm going with 275/40 and 255/45 up front. I'll probably be ordering next week.

So what wheels are you going with?

$160 per wheel is a good deal. But have you checked into wheel and tire packages?I thought they made me an excellent deal at the time of my purchase....but things were on sale at the time also.

18x9's $148ea
18x10's $150ea
255/45's $166ea
285/40's $150ea
s&h $136

My total package came to $1340 shipped to my house.

yeah... I'm not into their tires. Nitto Nexgen and crap. I'll just buy some Nice Michelin Pilot Sports and call it a day. Yes it's expensive... but it will be worth it. The michelins should get more miles out of them.

Yeah I bought my Rikken Raptors (offbrand Michelin Pilot Sports) for that price too... but I went with the real things this year. I have to run all season tires cuz Even in the spring and fall in Spokane it gets pretty cold at night... The rikken's didn't like being under 60 degrees very much. But I'm also running 255/45's up front which added to the price conciderably.

Well.. I broke down and went with the Chrome version of that wheel. I called and the guy told me they didn't make it in 30mm offset. Only 22. So ****. But I got the chrome 18x9's in a 36mm offset and then 18x10's in a 45 mm offset for the back. They should fit alot better anyway. We'll see how it looks when I get the tires on there.
