245/45/18's on 18" x 9" rims in the front on my car. The spindle clearance is exteremely close/tight I won't say that 245/50's won't work but I wouldn't recommend it. It also depends on the width and offset of the rims you're using.

I'm running 275/40/18's in the back.

Here's a few pix of mine.

Thanks, and you're welcome for the reply. Like R8D-XXX I also have a 36 mm offset.

Check out the wheel pics thread for other configurations. Most of the people who posted there listed their tire and rim sizes along with the offsets for their respective cars.

When I bought my 18X9 Speedstars (36mm offset), I started out with 245/45/18's all around. They looked OK up front, but too narrow in the rear, needs a little more width around the rim and a tad of height couldn't hurt, didn't quite fill out the wheelwell right. So I bought a used pair of 245/'50'/18's for the rear just to try it out. They definitely filled out the wheelwell, a little too much though, and a little too tall compared to the front tires. My car now looked more like a Hot-Wheels car than a level sitting, slightly lowered 'Bird with nice rims. So I figured out, with much research online, that a larger width in the rear with same 45 profile, now (255/45), would slightly widen the tires just right, and also raise the height some, without looking uneven from front to rear. Turned out perfect! I was told the 255's won't fit up front, which is why I got the 245's, but apparently they do so that will bil my next choice of size for the front.

Well. I was going to buy some Black Chrome Saleens but apparently the site lied and the 30mm offset up front doesn't exist. I'm considering the chrome ones now. They come in 36mm offset and 45mm offset on a 10 inch rim. So I'm going 18x9 up front with the 36mm offset and then 18x10 in the back with a 45 mm offset. We'll put some 275's or even 285s on the back.
