18" wheels

Who's running what for 18" wheels on these cars? I'm not driving my car everyday anymore,so I'm thinking about buying some newer Mustang 18" wheels for it,and I'm liking the 255/45/18's for tiresize,and will be running the same size all the way around for rotation purposes.
Any specific fitament issues with this size tire,or a particular wheel backspacing to worry about/look for?

I'm running 18's from Brad (Cudaz101) on mine with 245/45/18's in the front and 275/40/18's in back. I'm very pleased with them. Backspacing for the rims is 36mm which is ideal for the MN12. The 245's do seem kinda small and are the minimum size recommened for 18" x 9" rims. I don't think you'll have any problem with fitting the 255's. I believe there are some people on here who currently run that size and when mine wear out I'll be switching to the 255's. The only clearance issue is the front tire to spindle which is very tight with a 9" rim.

The 275's in the back look amazing and I'll also be upsizing them to 285's when they wear out.

Here are the staggered tire combinations that Brad suggested. Of course you could go 245/45 or 255/45 all the way around.

245-45-18/275-40-18

OR

255-45-18/285-40-18

Johnny,

I am running 18x9 saleen wheels in the mustang bolt pattern with +24mm offset. With 275/40/18's all the way around I have slight rubbing problems. Rolling the fenders a bit would alleviate the rubbing as it is only slight. I ran a 265 tire on the front at one point and had no rubbing up there. I think you would have no problems at all with a 255 width tire around 26.6in diameter.

Johnny, the Fittipaldis I used to have on the SC were 18x8.5" at +35, with 255/45/18 at all 4 corners, as seen here from 2002:



Nice fit with a good stance, filled up the fenders nicely with a 1-1/2" drop on Eibachs.

trunk monkey... in the front i have 245/45/18 as well as in the back.

in the front they come flush to the side of the car but in the back they are slightly inside, know what i mean?

im going to go with 275/40/18 HTR ll in the rear and try and fix this.

your running 275 and in the pictures it looks like the rear comes flush to the exterior. is that the case or is that just the pics, i cant tell for sure. and you aren't using spacers right? cuz i thought about that...

No spacers on my car and yes, the pictures are accurate; the rear does come flush with the fender well; a perfect fit with the 275's and 36 mm backspacing.

I get just a hint of rubbing with passengers in the back seat when I hit a bump in the road, otherwise it's not a problem. I haven't rolled the fender lip and don't plan on doing so.

I have 18x9's with 36mm offset. Tire size is 255-45-18 and I get some rubbing in the front on big dips. The car is lowered though so I don't think you would have that issue if you still run the sport springs JL.

I have the same setup in front with the same issue. But like Miller1995, I am also lowered. I'm running 285/40's in the back with air bags and poly spring cups.

Offset was +35, so backspacing would be ~6.13".

Do you remember how much room you had between the spindle arm and the wheel/tire up top?

I run 245/45/18 in the front and 285/40/18 in the rear. I rub in the front and the back but thats because i'm running mustang wheels. Thats on a 18x9 in the front and 18x10.5 on the back..

Hey Johnny, long time no talk....

18x8 w/ 38mm offset. 245/45/18 front and rear with no rubbing anywhere, ever.
If I were to ever get new rims, I would probably try to keep the 8" up front and go maybe 8.5" or 9" wide in the rear.

It was very close, probably 1/4" or less. Never saw any evidence of rubbing there however, even when I did run that wheel & tire combo a few times at open-track days rather than dedicated track rubber.

My fronts are 18x9 36mm offset with the 255/45's and backs are 18x10 45mm offset with 285/40's. Both front and back setups are right even with the outsides of my finders. As far as front spindle clearance goes, I have maybe a 1/4"
