General exclaim uhp

I am considering running these - 245/45/18 up front and 275/40/18 out back...any opinions on these tires? Long lasting? All I do is drive - around town slow like grandpa no corner carving no burnouts no racing just looking for a good low cost tire

Thanx!!

riken raptors are a cheap zr rated tire and they come in damn near every size with an aggressive looking directional tread.

I have those same tires and sizes. Look and ride good, probably about the least expensive W rated tire in the size. Can't say how long they last as mine only have about 1k on them.

I was looking at these some time ago and I really liked the reviews on them. They are suppose to have a decent compound and grip really good. The bad though is I think they have a really low treadwear number. So they may not last that long. For the price how can you beat them?

The only reason I didnt buy them when I had the chance was because tirerack was having a blowout sale on the potenza RE-01 for 65 bucks a tire. Now that tire is one sticky street tire.

04 PI swap,SVO Supercharger 8-9 psi,Alcohol injection,39lbs Cobra injectors,XCal2-Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump,4.10 T-Lok,2003 4R70W built to withstand by RobertP,450hp JMOD,3800 circleD stall,trucool 4739 Trans Cooler,Dynotech 3.5 Driveshaft,70mm T/B,SCP Cold Air Intake,90mm LMAF,JBA headers,Magnaflow Midmount,No cats with 3inch piping,Vogtland 1.6inch drop,Cobra R's and xenon body kit.

The treadwear number is 380 which is not that bad.

Wow, those are cheap! You have experiance with them? I remember when I got the SC wheels for the 95, the tires where brand new (old) dry rotted to hell cracked nasty tires...so I replaced them with the cheapest tires avail. at the local tire shop I used to frequent...some weird made in china tire...guy at the shop said they would do fine, but "don't expect more than a year out of them" Can't reemmber what they where called and I think I only had the car for a month, tops after I had them installed....how did they hold up?

I had good experiances with the riken raptors (245/45/17zr) for almost two years of punishing them and 30k, my fronts were still good not even close to the wear indicators, so they are hanging in a corner of my garage, but my bad alignment caused me to go through the rears sooner than I should have, then again my autocross events, burnouts, and heavy right foot with no tire rotations certainly didn't help. When I was shopping for new tires I stumbled upon a deal I couldn't refuse for the perfect size Nitto's (255/50/17zr invo's) so I snatched up four of them for 250 with approx 1k miles on them due to an idiot mustang owner on craigslist.

The tires on the SC wheels on the 95 are holding up ok but I'm hunting after a horrific vibration at 70mph+ on the driver side front, I'm going to have that tire rebalanced next week and see if it helps, otherwise I'll investigate the suspension components again. (Shouldn't be a problem with my unlimited access to an alignment rack all of this semester of college. (YAY steering and suspension class!)

Mean while my primary bird (Christine) which you saw when I picked up the 95 is undergoing open heart surgery (engine swap) so I can't really comment much on the invo's, lol for the 200 - 300miles I put on them they seemed pretty sticky.

Oh yeah how is the 4v swap going ?

I did the oil preassure gauge mod the other day - seems to work right but I also blew out a tire the same day, so the bird has been sleeping it off while I drive my mom's Taurus wagon around and try to decide on tires...

Interestingly I absolutely love the Taurus wagon- 2001 model with the DOHC V6 - I kinda wanna pick one up to have as a second car...

It's going well hoping for late September very early October completion depending on how fast select parts get back from port polish and coatings.

Thanx!!
Kumho ASX is the other tire I considered (available in the same size), I am running them on my TransAm and they are good. A little better tread rating 420 vs 380 for the UHPs.
