16x7 7 spoke, will they fit?

I wanted to put the Mercury Cougar 89-91, 96-97 7 spoke 16x7's on my 94 Cougar, found a set of 4, but the seller says they only fit 89-91 and 96, 97 Cougars. WTF? Seriously?

The guy is smokin' crack, right? From the chart I saw under one of the sticky threads, 89-97 are all the same bolt pattern and are interchangeable.

Just want to make sure before I make an offer.

Thanks!

Yes,they fit no problem...I'm pretty sure those are the sport wheels .
You only have issues if you have a sport and try a d use 15in rims..the 16s are to be able to clear the sport brakes.

Probably what the seller meant to say was that those rims were available on those model years.

It's not a 97 Sport, it just looks like one!

Thanks 94 and Rodeo... I do agree that the seller was probably conveying that these rims only came on those years.

That is an excellent fact to know about the Sport model. I did not know the Sport model had bigger brakes.

Not all the 96 Sports had the bigger brakes though.

Yeah, but still.... :P

Thanks Joe.

Was looking at some of the wheels that are out there and OMG some of them are out right gorgeous... For the price they are asking for used rims these days (rip off), might as well buy new wheels.
