Fitment Chrome Lincol LS rims? hitting caliper?

I have seena black Tbird with Chrome Lincoln 17X7 LS rims on it and he said he had spacers but no qord of fitment problems. I have seen a Blue Cougar or Older vintage on the forum as well with the same rims in Silver finish. I want to put Chrome 17X7 rims on my 97 Tbird after i finish lowering it this week. The last gent I talked too said His would not fit evebn with the correct offset spacer. the rims hit the caliper or brakes??!

1. Fitment wise I now I need a spacer to fit on my Bird, What thickness??
2. With these rims Sport or Non sport Option Do theRims rub the caliper or any supension? Those who have swapped these can you tell me?

thanks

Anybody got any comments? Id like to find a pair by spring or so depending on the money situation. I also looked on greenleaf they have lots of cheap rims.

ive had them on my car for 3 summers now. yes, there is an offset problem, fixed with a 1/4" spacer. i always checked them regularily and never had one back off on me. as far as caliper clearence, there shouldnt be a problem. i have the sport package with the larger rotors and they fit with lots of room to spare. not sure why he had trouble getting a 17" rim around a 12" rotor. i couldnt find anywhere that sold the spacers so i had them made at a local machine shop.

heres a close up of a front wheel

Question

Looks good. Can I ask where did you get those rims. ebay or direct from a seller? Anything between 729 or 629 I figure is reasonable to pay.

i never liked spacers, check out discount tire or customwheelsmarket before you dive into wheels that aren't made for your car.

I had jaguar stype wheels on my car, and they never fit right and caused a vibration problem due to the spacer.

I'm not saying that you will have such a problem with a small spacer, but I still don't trust spacers in general.

thanks man

justin, i agree with you on the spacers, and i find myself checking them with a torque wrench often. the main reason for these wheels is that i got them for a really great deal. i only pais $400 Cdn(maybe $325 US?) and that included tires too. when i was working at a body shop one summer a guy was getting his ls fixed and he went out and got a set of aftermarkets for it. i offered him $400 and he took it, too good of a deal to pass up. guess i was lucky because i havent had any vibration problems at all. anybody have a set of cobra r's they wanna trade?

Talking

I found set from an LS owner that had upgraded. 4 for $470 that includes tires shipped. I got spacers looking for and I bought some white caliper paint while I am in the process. Shoudl look pretty slick when done. thanks all
