Original tire size?

I know I'm beating this to death, but I have one more question about original tire size. As I understand it, the original stock size for a '97 Tbird is 205/70-15 and the 215/70-15 was optional. So, when I'm figuring out how large of a tire I can put on my car which do I use as my starting point? I've been using the Miata calculator (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html).

I've been using the 215/70-15 as my starting point and I'd like to go to the largest tire I can without exceeding +/- 3 percent difference.

215/70-15. I have yet to see a stock (from the factory) 96/97 T-bird (V6 or V8) that came with any other size than a 215/70-15 on the stock 15" wheel. I believe the door sticker went unchanged since 89 because the older MN12s used 205s on the base model cars.

correct, the 89-91 base models that didn't get the wheel option got 205s.
