Question Question about cleaning the STOCK rims on '97

Okay, I am having some pretty big annoyances with cleaning these things, the wheels are really hard to get completely clean, and there are some "stains" in the alloys, how do I get the stains off? I tried rubbing hard with a cloth and what not.. Any trick to get 'em looking like new?

I was actually using BlackMagic TireWet to clean the rims, works well too, but I am tired of running through a freaking bottle every 2 washes.. It adds up. Is there any other method.

And I know this is a little off subject, but I just got some clear corners off Ebay, and they are in the mail, can I just take the bulb out of my OEM corners and place it in the new ones and be done with it?

I just wanted to add, my g/f is having the same trouble with cleaning her rims on her truck too.. So your helping me AND her out

Try some Eagle Chrome and Wire Wheel cleaner and a brush.DONT use the Mag Cleaner, it has alot of acid in it and will streak your rims.

Chrome cleaner on stock alloys?

How much for the 2 cleaners, and is it possible to get the "stains" off my rims?

Quit crying and clean them!!!!!!! J/K, but I bet there aren't many of us Cougar owners who have dealt with the stock rims who sympathise with you, you should try cleaning XR7 wheels

Powered by RNC Performance

Custom Powdercoating Available, PM me for details.

Ah yeah, I use it on my Sport wheels and it works great. All depends on what caused the stain. You will have to try it but it works great on my rims and they are coated from the factory. The cleaner is about 5 bucks a bottle.
Thanks,
Chris

Well, I am questioning it, because from the pic above.. My car doesn't have chrome rims at all...

Thats why.. But I'll try it!

Well you ask for an opinion and I gave it to ya, so take that for what its worth. I use it on my sport rims and they are the same finish as your 15" LX rims. I also use it on my chrome cobras and havent had any problem in the past 2 years with it and it cleamns great.Just make sure you have the wheel wet when you put it on and DONT let it dry on there or you will have more stains that wont come out.

Exclamation

for my old 97 fan blades they would slightly pit and get brake dust onthem bad so just use fine steel wool to rid the stains and of course washt hem with hot soap and or your wheel cleaners. rinse and dry them off and wax or polish them. Should glisten well
