I would like some opinions on this if you don't mind. I'm am currently running SHO slicers on my Cougar and they are 16"x6" with 225/60/16's and I was thinking about going to 235/60/16 but I'm worried that the wheels are too narrow. I have seen 235's mounted on 15"Thunderbird alloys but I believe they are 6.5" correct? What do you guys think ?

You should be able to run up to 245's. I would recommend going to a lower profile since ur going wider. So maybe a 235/55?? That way it stays close to the stock tire calibration.

225/60/16=26.63. 235/60/16=27.10 235/55/16=26.08
After looking at a chart it would be either going .5" inch taller or shorter which is .25" on each side so with my car being a stock ride height maybe 235/60/16's so the wheel wells will look "full" . If I drop it before I get tires I think the "55's would be better . Thanks for the input!

Keep them the same so you can do a proper rotation for longer tire life. Plus the look of the two wont match, and not in a good way like the big and little look with wider rims on the rear would.

I am running 235/55-16 front. 255/50-16 rear on my winter wheels. Plan to go to 235/55-16 all around when the 255s are gone as that size is pretty hard to find anymore.

I ran 245/50-16 for one set, but they are too short.

I currently run 245/50/16s in front and 255/50/16s in back for now. My plan is to update the rears to 1 size wider but go to a 45 series so I will keep my height I have now. I think thats right.

6" wide, I guess I missed that. I am running the 7" wide sport wheels and thought those were narrow. I did not know Ford made any 6" wide with 16".

In that case I would stick with the 225.

They are the Taurus SHO "Slicers" 16"x 6" I wish they would have at least been 6.5" but they do look good with 225's the way the tires "bulge out" on the rims. I checked the SHO forums and that seems to be the widest they are using also.
