97 tbird with a 95 hood?

i've done some research on this as i bought a 95 hood (been looking for a black one for some time) to go on my 97 bird. however i cant get the damn hood to latch. after doing some reading im still not super clear on this but i think my problem is that the hood latch is different on a 95? i've adjust that thing 8 zillion times already and cant get it to latch the bottom latch.

just wanted to be sure before i go nab a 95 hood latch.

thanks for all your help guys this site is super helpful and friendly i always appreciate that.

94/5 hoods have a tip in the center and are cut out for the larger 94/5 headlights. And yes you'll need a latch for it to work.

The actual latch is the same for all years. Sounds like an alignment issue with the hood itself, you shouldnt have messed with the latch to make up for a mis-aligned hood.

The hood release lever is different if you are swapping the headlamp mounting panel.

Went to the junkyard latches are identical. Good thing I didn't move the latch rofl. Continuing with trying to align this puppy correctly. Thanks for the help guys. Any tricks on aligning it? I just switched the hood not switching the front clip or headlights.

How did you replace the hood ? With the hinges attached ?? If you unscrewed the torx bit bolts on the sides, it should have lined it up the same as the original. There are forward / backward, side to side adjustments on the bottom hinge mounts, and the up and down measurement is on the hinge bolt in the back. If I am aligning with the bottom mounting bracket, usually I remove the wiper cowl and latch the hood down, then you can pull it to line up with the fenders and bolt down the two rear bolts to hold it in place to tighten the rest.
