1996 t-bird door wont close right

so I have had this t-bird since 1998 and is still a great car. I am now all of a sudden having an issue with the passenger side door not closing. I can get it to close by locking the door and closing it but it still doesn't seem to close all the way. If I close it when its unlocked it seems to only close on that first catch and wont latch fully at all!
Anyone else have an issue like this and I rarely even use the passenger side door but its driving me crazy! Mainly cause if you don't get it past that second latch the dome light stays on!

Thanks

Two good possibilities. Well, three.

1) Hinge pins failing causing it to not line up at the striker bolt. There's articles here on how to replace the hinge pins.

2) Striker bolt itself has slipped out of alignment (not likely, but still.) Or the plastic covering is missing.

3) Where the striker bolt mounts has cracked, misaligning the striker bolt.

For NOW, you can adjust the striker bolt if necessary. But I'd be looking hard at the hinge pins.
