old chevy truck paint

Does anyone know the fix for my 1991 Chevy P/U paint. It chips and peels at the top of the body panels showing grey primer. Major peeling on the cab roof also. I was curious about possible cheap decals or new color rattle can paint. The hood is ok, the chips go from the fenders up the cab pillars to the roof on the cab and the doors.

I think we've all seen these trucks driving by showing lots of primer or worse.

The FIX is to strip the paint down to the bare metal and repaint.

A temporary COVER is to sand it, prep it, and paint it. But the new won't hold as well as the old did, and the old will keep coming off, taking the new with it.

That vintage GM is known for the paint and primer not liking each other.

Since this isn't MN12 or FN10 related it really should be posted in the Miscellaneous section of the forum..

That way this section doesn't get cluttered up with non MN12 questions..

Since nobody said it yet, the fix is to sell the Chevy and buy a Ford!

Seriously though, anything other than stripping to bare metal and repainting is just going to be a Band-Aid. If you are going to do something temporary for it, I would suggest plasti-dip just because it is cheap, requires minimal prep, and is easy to touch-up.
