Any way to fix the door indents?

Mine just close on a hill, won't hold themselves open.
Guessing new hinges would be the way to do it...

I'll give a thumbs up to that.

The driver's door on Ruby Jean (our 1991 XR7) stays open MUCH better now.

Of course, if you want to be Justin Case Covered *grins* The lower hinge kit should include a Dorman 38350 ( Dorman Products - 38350 ) ; also, Dorman has a whole-door kit ( Dorman Products - 703-270 ) that has two pins, four bushings, two E-clips.

sounds like a plan. will have to do at Mom's house as she has a level driveway, I'm on a slope and the garage is too small for those big old doors!

You might have the record for "the most different topics posted about in one day"!

I repaired the hinges on one door of my old '95, and it took two weekends. Had to get the egged out hole filled in with welding, or it would have just gone back to drooping eventually.

I've not gotten a close enough look yet. I got the car yesterday in a slight ice storm, drove it home, washed it and in the garage, where you can't open the doors fully.

It appears my hinges are fine, the indent holders are rubber rollers in the lower hinge, they should be round and semi flexible, mine had some flat spots. Wonder if those are replaceable.

Ahem.

Factory is kind of 8 sided.

OTOH, when the bushings start to fail, it no longer lines up.

You'll have to pull the bushings ANYWAY; just do all of it.

You'll thank me for that suggestion.

I don't recall seeing replacements for those.

They are in perfect shape on my Cougar, I don't believe that the doors stay open any stronger on it than on my Tbird; they are somewhat worn and out of round on the bird.

i'll pick some up. If I turn the rollers they'll stay, but they just go back to the flat spots.
