door handle problem (exterior)

when i pull on my drivers door handle, the handle part pops out away from the rest of the door handle assembly making it appear like /! instead of being flush with the rest of the assembly i can push it back in, but as it popps out its clicking, like the gears are stripping or something, but when the air is cool, its ok, how do i fix this short of getting a new handle? and how do you install a new handle? from the inside of the car or outside?

Door Handles

They are riveted on from the outside. If you are going to replace them, get a set of '96-'97 style that are the same color as your car. They only cost around $26.00 each from Five Star Ford with TCCOA discount and they look better. You will have to change your locks as well, but the set only costs $35.00 from FSF.
