On the subject of Fake Badging

I have Cobra wheels on my Grand Marquis.

I have just bought some Lincoln LS wheels for my Cougar.

Obviously the Marquis is not a Cobra Marquis, and it was never my intent to have people believe such.

What I want to do, is put the Cobra center caps from the Cobra wheels onto my LS wheels, and put the Lincoln caps into my Cobra wheels.

So the Cougar's LS wheels will have a Cobra emblem in it.

Think that'll look alright without people thinking I'm trying to pretend it's a Cobra Cougar?

Like I said in the other forum I think its fine just as long as you don't tell everyone you have a cobra cougar or what have you. Some people are just all about legalistics and they are the kind of people that always restore cars to 100% OEM I would rather see a totally custom older car than a Concourse original that even has the yellow paint torque markings on the bolts.

Alot of people get up in arms about people doing stuff to their car. I really don't get it. I appricate alot of different kinds of cars, and will never judge sombody's ride based on badges, or stuff like that.

wheels are a different story, cuz they're not "car badging" it's "wheel badging".. as long as you don't slap 'Cobra' on the back of your cougar, i don't see why anyone would say anything.

Sounds good - I don't mind a Snake on my wheels, but the Lincoln badge doesn't belong on the Cougar.

Neither on the Marquis - but it'd be more suitable on it.

OK - when my Cobra's come off for the winter, and the LS wheels get rubber and go onto the Cougar, I'll swap the caps .

Thanks boys,

Kevin.
