rust prevention

i meant to post this a couple of weeks ago. someone may have already in the past.

when you open the doors, both sides, and look below the bottom hinge, there is an area at the bottom of the front quarter panel that collects leaves and dirt and crap. this is usually wet, and if left there for a long time, would cause cancerous rust. when i looked there over christmas, there was a bunch of wet leaves and wet dirt there. i used a large set of tweezers and an air hose to blow/clean it out.

FYI

Try this: http://www.nonslipcoating.com/scratchguard.htm

Some people paint their whole vehicles with it. You can get it in a smoother version as well.

when using the airhose be sure to not be leaning in there too much.

my dad had an a 63 mercedes and the quarter panels were rusting out from the insides. he filled the inside of all the quarter panels and bottom of doors with like about 300 lbs of grease to keep them from rusting. not very practical here as whatever flies in there will stick however something like the link above may be helpful for those who live up north in colder climates.
