American sports car desighn hoods

Im looking to purchase a american sports car desighn hood and i was wondering the experiances people have had with these people and the qaulity of product. also when installing this hood what will i need i have heard that fiberglass hoods tear off and such. Will a new fiberglass hood require hood pins or could i use the stock hood latch?

thank you

most of them you can use the stock hood latch, but you should use hood pins as well. Do a search, there is a pic posted up here of a person that didn't. No sense in ruining the new hood, windshield and roof of the car. Better to be on the safe side. Fiberglass hoods are very light and driving highway speeds can rip them right off.

Depends on the condition of the hood if you need anything to install it. Most just hook right up to the stock latches. Good luck

get pins

I didn't originally have pins in mine, but the first time I unlatced it and tried to close it back, it broke the fiberglass in the latch-sqaure and I had to bungee it down from the inside and take it back to the shop and add pins. After I got the pins I thought it looked better, It broke up the all black paint and set it off nicely imo.

I have an ASC cobra r hood on mine and am very pleased with the quality and strength. The only fitment issue was a small area near the cowl had to be ground down to clear the wiper and the plastic cowl cover.

With my hood anyways, i see no reason to have hood pins and have yet to have a problem. The ASC hoods are very thick and sturdy little to no flex. I've seen alot of glass hoods flex and shake very bad when driving but not mine.
