Are you talking for the tail lights?

I have it on both my cars, and really like it.

A comment received this weekend while driving in the day, AND rain WITH my lights on, was that "You can't tell you have tinted tail lights at all when your lights are on". Goes to show that they're safe too.

Click on the sig pic for my Marquis .

So let me get this straight. This "Night Shades" paint goes on your taillights (and headlights?) and it makes them almost completly black (like Merc's Marquis). And it's street legal? I know that the GTS covers are only legal during the day, and I'm looking for something permanent. Info please. This stuff sounds cool as sh!t.

Off-road only? Merc, have you even been stopped? You said it's only on your fronts, and that your taillights show through. Damn the man. Still, info please.

you wont get stopped for tinted tail lights .... i have nite shades on the tails and clears in the front, this looks the best. the damn blackotus i had fell off everytime it rained and they sucked the big one ! i had like 10 pieces of velcro ... ugh it was horrible... your headlights get dim as hell so u need fogs if u black the front out (with gts or nite-shades). just do black tails and clears in the front, it looks good and you wont get in trouble and youll be able to see at night time

i can IM pics ... Xxhurley500 or [email protected] and ill email you them

You can get stopped for tinted taillites and headlites. At least here in NY you can. The cop gave me four tickets, one for each lite that was covered with the GTS covers on the car at that time. I would find out about the law were you live before you do anything permanent. You don't want to get stopped and fined all the time. It'll get real expensive, real fast.

Sorry for not paying attention to this thread - I skipped it this morning...

I've never been stopped, but cops don't generally stop people for stuff like that.

What I do though, is KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES when I've been pulled over, so as to keep the lights on - so as to disguise the blackness of the tail lights.

Yep, what I was told is that "with the lights on you can't tell you have black lights".

Could you get a ticket? Yes, and there's probably no defense for it. Am I worried about getting a ticket? No.

It's on BOTH my black cars, and I really do like the stuff. However, it's only on the tails.

A visual mod I did this weekend was to take vinyl-cling and apply that to my parking lamps and turn lamps (Marquis), and that looks pretty good. I haven't touched the headlights on it (yet?). The Cougar uses GTS blackouts, but only in daylight hours - you can't see **** at night with them on.

Where exactly can I find out whether they are illegal or not? I was probably gonna just put it on my tails (and clear corner the fronts, like ITAKEU said).

Good idea bout foolin the cops, Merc.

Here in Massachusettes they love stopping people for this type of stuff. Especially the state cops. This is why i dont like them, instead of stopping all the people who are out breaking real laws they stop people like us for bullsh*t laws like these. Just my personal opinion of mass. state police, as for blackouts and the niteshade spray its illegal here in mass.

It's illegal everywhere, except 'off-road' .

No - it isn't a good idea to fool the cops, but if I've been pulled over for speeding - I really don't want them tacking another charge along with it - and if they don't notice anything amiss - all the better for me.

I was in MA last weekend, and never got pulled over - it must have been the Ontario plates ! BTW - MA is a beautiful state!

Pics? I have a few:

Tail lights before tint (with winter wheels - no more gay chrome fenders either): http://crownvictoria.clanpages.com/merc/Marquis.jpg

After tint: http://crownvictoria.clanpages.com/m...key%20Side.jpg

Marquis with Cobra's, still too much chrome, and no bra yet - tail lights are tinted at this point: http://crownvictoria.clanpages.com/m...%20Kitty/2.jpg

Cougar, before tinted tail lights:

I meant that that a good idea if you WANTED to fool them, but if you got caught, you better come up with one good f'in explaination.

As for the pics, I have a question about the Cougar. I'm sure that the more tint that you put on the lights, the darker it gets. How many layers is that, and how many on the G.M.? I don't know exactly how this stuff works (spray? film?), but I'm pretty positive that if it's not too dark, you can get away with it (all I want is to darken the tails a tad, not go all-out black).

I dunno - it's more a trial and error thing.

The Marquis DEFINATELY Has more spray on it, but also the pics were taken in different conditions - the Cougar on a bright day in a park, and the the Marquis on a dull day.

The can's are about $7 each, and do about 2-3 cars worth - so you can screw it up, clean it off (acetone), and try again.

It's runny, so I suggest taking the lenses OFF the car, and laying them flat. You'll reduce your chances of runs that way.

Slippy - it looks normal up close, it's just tinted. Put it this way - my next black car will also get this treatment as I like it so much .

That Marquis of your is going to look like a 96 SS Impala if you remove the chrome trim... Even though they were Chevy, They look sweet!

In Virginia I know that black out stuff will get me a ticket so I don't evn try. I have a glowing ford emblem which is enough law breaking for me...This state is HOMOSEXUAL! Haven't got pulled over yet but waiting for the day.

Seriously tho guys, if you look at that Marquis, imagine it will all black trim and you have a car similar to the SS Impala but with a shorter frame.

My tails came out really good. I only paid 10 bucks for the can of spray and I was AMAZED with the results. It looks alot better than the tail light covers and is also cheaper. I recomend this to anyone!!

I don't know why but my tails are starting to fade. I used the nite shades about 3 years ago.

Glad you like it Birdman - no troubles with the local's yet?

Thanks for the compliments Tim - but the look I'm going for is Marauder.

If my sig pic works, click on it - that's how she looks today. NO chrome except for the trim around the side windows. Looks good - when she's clean .

An old member of ours, Dario, had nite shades on his rear quarter lights. Unfortunately he is no longer a "Bird guy", and I couldn't tell you where the car ended up.
